Glasgow School of Art textile design graduate Olivia Qi has won the prestigious New Designer of the Year Award at the 2015 New Designers exhibition in London.
A specialist in knit, she was born in China and brought up in Inverness. Her intricately embellished knitted designs are inspired by the clean bold lines and varied textures of the city. She was drawn to study at Glasgow School of Art because of its reputation and it was where one of her favourite designers, Jonathan Saunders, trained.

The college was also celebrating two other successes as Ieva Mikutaite won the Jewellery Award and Karen Westland received the Goldsmiths’ Company Silversmithing Award.
New Designers 2015 part 1, which features work by recent graduates from across the UK runs in the Business Design Centre, 52 Upper Street London, N1 0QH until Sat 27 June 2015.
